What Is The STD Check Process?

Your trained GP will start by asking you some basic questions about your health and sexual activity. Some questions may get quite personal, so it’s good to prepare in advance, and mention to your doctor if you are feeling uneasy about answering any questions. Keep in mind your Doctor is not there to judge you and only asks questions necessary to assess your risk and recommend the right tests and treatments.

STD tests usually involve providing urine samples, but also may require genital examinations, swabs, or blood samples.

What Happens If I Test Positive For An STD?

If your test comes back positive, you will be required to book a follow-up appointment with your doctor and discuss treatment options. You must:

// Avoid sex until your STD has been treated and no longer poses a transmission risk.
// Contact any sexual partners you have had and advise them of your diagnosis.
