Ear Microsuction

A clinically-proven and safe method of ear wax removal.

What is Ear Microsuction?

Ear Microsuction is an ear wax removal technique with a gentle suction device that is used under a microscope to suck out the ear wax.

Your GP, with a magnified view under a microscope, will insert a device into your ear, and gently remove all wax build up, until your ear is completely clear and clean.

Why do I need Ear Microsuction?

Ear microsuction is a safe and effective method of ear wax removal. Other methods such as ear candling or water flushes have no proven effect, or have a risk of causing damage, irritation and infection.

People with Surfer’s Ear, or who use hearing aids will especially benefit from this, however it is available to anyone. Wax build-up can reduce hearing, be unsightly and can cause water build-up. Regular headphone or earphone users can have increased wax production, and may require ear microsuction as an alternative to other ear cleaning methods.

During the procedure, you may experience a loud noise, some small discomfort and in rare circumstances very temporary vertigo, however this is a safe procedure and any side-effects will pass once the procedure is over.

If you are interested in ear microsuction, have stubborn earwax or use hearing aids, we recommend talking to your GP. Book an appointment today with King Street Medical.
